Structural violence is a term to describe social conditions that cause harms to human beings. Scholars in this field regard structural violence as an avoidable decline in meeting human needs. Emphasizing the decline in some basic economic and social indicators as examples of structural violence, this study attempts to find out what are the causes and consequences of structural violence in the city of Sanandaj. To do this, secondary analysis of the data gathered from institutions was done. Findings show that in terms of economic indicators of structural violence, Sanandaj has the second rank of unemployment rate among provinces and has low position among provincial centers in terms of economic competitiveness placing it among the poorest provinces in the country. Also in terms of socio-structural indicators of violence, it is 25th province in terms of health development and is low in terms of quality of life.
