Abstract

Social health is influenced by agents of socialization such as the family, teachers, and peer groups. The main purpose of this study is to determine the role of socialization agents in promoting the social health of students in Marivan city. The theoretical framework of the research was formed by using theories of Keyes & Shapiro, Sarason et all, and Owen Hargie. This study has surveyed 375 correspondents using a multi-stage proportional sampling method. In addition, we employed a standardized questionnaire to gather the data. The results of multivariate regression showed that the variables of the family role, teachers, and peers explained 0.69 percent of the variance of the dependent variable. The beta of peers' social support (0.567) and family's communication skills (0.294) had the highest impact and predicted the highest percentage of social health promotion variance. This means that the peers have affected the Marivani students more than families and teachers.

Key Concepts: agents of socialization, social support, emotional support, Social health, communication skills.
